Last year, my group and I had assignment to make a TV program show about traveling. So, we had idea to travel the biggest worship place and taste the culinary in Pontianak.
At this part, I like to share my journey in "Maha Vihara Maitreya Kalimantan Barat" on Ayani 2 street a.k.a Arteri Supadio street.
When I go there, I thought it is the biggest vihara that I ever see in my hometown. It is a welcomed worship place because the staff allowed us to come in, as long as we didn't disturb anythings there. So, we were walking, looking around, taking photos and recording our report there.
Oh yeah, when you come in to this place, you will see a big statue, the name of the statue is Budha Maitreya. it colored gold and on its right hand, there is a globe that show Indonesia's location . Here's the picture.
This great vihara has 3 floors, its area 44 x 66 m with capacity until 1.200 people, it also has an auditorium. Maha Vihara Maitreya was legitimated in October 28, 2013 by two ministers of Indonesia, they are Surya Darma Ali Minister, Religion Minister and Dahlan Iskan, a Minister of SOEs.
Beside it used for worship place, this Vihara also will be a training and education center for the members of Maitreya Buddhist community.
