AIESEC!

Well, after a long time, I start to write a post in this blog again about AIESEC.

AIESEC is the international platform for young people to explore and develop their leadership. I don't know why, but I have a big desire to join the GYAP (Global Youth Ambassador Participant) program, especially exchange in China.

I had done my administration register last year and local interview last month. I PASSED MY INTERVIEW. (Okay, it is a rare thing of my life. I ever failed interview for few times).

The next step is looking for the project. In this thing, I have problems: time and money. I would like to exchange in this summer, but the project will start on May or June, before my final exam. This program needs 4-6 weeks and I have a job to do until this July.

About money, for going to China, it needs not small amount of money. (Oh ya, FYI, AIESEC program is not free, but the experience in AIESEC is priceless). I must generate more money and looking for sponsorship or donator to help me reaching my dream. I know money is not everything, but everything needs money.

I contacted to the previous EP, but until now he does not give any feedback. I hope these problems can be solved soon. I also hope my dreams will come true. If I cannot join it in this year, then I will try for the next year project to be a global citizen.

Instead of receiving Mia’s viewpoint (the prequel story), Where She Went is told through Adam’s viewpoint (past and present). It is just takes place several years after If I Stay. It’s set in NYC. Mia is a famous cellist. Adam is a rock star. They’ve broken up in the years between If I Stay and Where She Went. The reason is given in the book and totally not a cop out, either. Anyways, Adam’s not satisfied with his life, even though he has it all, money, a hot girlfriend, and fame. You see, he’s totally living that ‘the girl who got away’ situation. Right, so the majority of Where She Went takes place in one day and it’s completely fantastic.
"The clothes are packed off to Goodwill. I said my goodbyes up on that hill. The house is empty, the furniture sold. Soon your smells will decay to mold. Don’t know why I bother calling, ain’t nobody answering. Don’t know why I bother singing, ain’t nobody listening."
(Disconnect - Collateral Damage, Track 10, page 85)
Then, I label Adam Wilde a.k.a Wilde Man as "The Man Who Can't Be Moved" in this novel. He is genuine and still the fabulous guy from If I Stay. But, fame and breaking up with Mia has hardened him. Yet, we see how he becomes a completely different person around Mia, when he reunites with her after not seeing her for years. And I love that, because it is authentic. Plenty of us become different people from our public places when we are around those close to us, those who know our essential selves. I loved that Adam is still carrying the torch.
And Mia, she’s wonderful, heartbreaking and still passionate about classical music.

This novel is not really sad at all, but it is about how life has a funny way of working out and the people we carry in our hearts are always truly a part of us, whether they are in our lives or not.
“I needed to hate someone and you’re the one I love the most, so it fell on you.” (Mia Hall to Adam Wilde, page 207)

If I Stay is a young adult novel by Gayle Forman published in 2009 (United States). The story follows 17-year-old Mia Hall as she deals with the aftermath of a catastrophic car accident involving her family. In a coma, Mia has an out-of-body experience, and watches as friends and family gather at the hospital where she is being treated. Mia watches as her memories flash before her eyes as she comes to realize that she must decide if she should wake up and lead a life far more difficult than she ever anticipated, or slip away and die. It has received positive reviews. A sequel hit shelves in April 2011, entitled Where She Went.

The writing was great and Gayle Forman did a spectacular job with this 200-pages-book, not too long and not too short.
The best part about the book for me was that Mia thinks about her past to try to figure out whether she should live or die. And also that Gayle Forman explored this subject and I think what she wrote could be true to an extent. For example, i
f you were on a car crash like Mia was, and your injuries are really severe. Your lying limb and semi unconscious in a hospital bed. Your mind is still thinking, you can hear and feel everything around you, but you can't move. Don't you think its YOUR choice whether to live or die?

Then, there is a lot of language in the book that I don't really think was needed, but it showed the parents personality a little so that's why I tolerated it.

Again, If I Stay, Gayle Forman’s outstanding debut novel, is an emotionally gripping story. As readers follow Mia's life after the accident, we also learn via plentiful flashbacks about her life before tragedy struck. Her colorful, vibrant family members are recalled so vividly that they could step off the page --- and break our hearts. Her remembrances highlight Mia's romance with her boyfriend (Adam Wilde) and her passion for her music. Readers will find her predicament absorbing, and the book’s climax poignant and satisfying. So, I recommend to younger readers and fans of relationship drama to read this novel.
“If you stay, I’ll do whatever you want. I’ll quit the band, go with you to New York. But if you need me to go away, I’ll do that, too. I was talking to Liz and she said maybe coming back to your old life would be too painful, that maybe it’d be easier for you to erase us. And that would suck, but I’d do it. I can lose you like that if I don’t lose you today. I’ll let you go. If you stay.” (Adam Wilde to Mia Hall, page 192, If I Stay)
Oh yeah, FYI, it adapted into a movie (with same title) and it is still coming soon in Indonesia (starring by , , Jamie Blackley).

Structural Assignment : Teaching Learning with ICT

1.     Why do you think we need ICT in teaching learning process?
Because learning takes place everywhere, not just in the classroom. Today, we are in 21st Century, ICT can empower teachers and students, promote change of the teaching learning process to be better and foster the development of 21st Century skill. By ICT, we can connected to the world (locally and globally). We can learn from teachers around world. We can share our ideas and ask our question without gap. The information and knowledge are unlimited if we applied ICT in teaching learning process.

2.    In what ways ICT can really help both teacher and students?
ICT can helps teacher enjoy the teaching-learning in class and the students enjoy their learning and doing their homework. In ICT, there are some options to learn, such as blogging, broadcasting, Google document presentation and social networking.
By blogging, students can have learning experiences. The students can share ideas, videos and their own website. They learn to be creative and productive by design their blog and share their words with the world. Then the students can get comments and feedback about their materials. The teacher can give his or her suggestion and advice for their blogs. It really helps the students to get the confidence from the feedback of their friends, teachers or people around the world.
By broadcasting, students can record their own video about any subject and the teacher can listens the broadcast from the students and then give them a feedback. The students can also listen to the other broadcast and learn from it.
By Google document presentation, the teacher can presents a slide show that have been talked in the class. The students can develop the presentation to be more interesting by text, graphic and pictures to present the project. Google documentary also offers the capability of sharing their works with anyone, anywhere in the world.
By social networking (for example Twitter), the students can connect to their teacher and the others by following the tweets. The teacher can gives a discussion topic in a tweet and the students can share their opinions by reply their teacher’s tweet. It helps them to share their ideas and get the point from the “chat”.
Both teacher and students can learn about critical thinking, generalist (broad) competencies, ICT competencies enabling expert work, decision-making, working as a member of a team, when students have a group project and do it with their friends as a group, and the teacher can be a part of that team, and also learn about communicating effectively.

3.  Which do you prefer to ask, what computer can do for us, or what we can do with computer? Mention the reason.
What we can do with computer. Because computer is a general-purpose tool with many uses, so the primary limits on what it does are set by the choices of its user, us. We, humans, can explore the computer’s function and innovate the program on computer, improve our creativity on computer.

The Hidden Paradise of Borneo : Lemukutan Island

Lemukutan island is flanked by small islands, such as Randayan and Kabung. Bengkayang district has 12 small islands with abundant natural resources. Only 5 of the 12 islands, inhabited by people. Including Lemukutan island. The rest, is still a piece of the islands with no inhabitants.

The island is located around 15 miles from the nearest landing point on the edge of the north Pontianak-Singkawang. The name of market where the sea transport dock landing is Teluk Suak(Suak bay).
Suak bay is 31 km from Singkawang. Its position is before the Singkawang's border if we go from Pontianak. From the Suak bay to the island takes about 1.5 hours.

Wilderness conditions, naturally maintained by the local community, make this island is still very natural.
Along the way before arriving Lemukutan island, you can its beautiful scenery. The sea breeze and the sound of crashing waves on the rocky give us so natural sense.

Clean water, causing the ocean floor with coral, colorful plants, can be viewed directly from the boat. You can also see the cultivated seaweed communities.

You can find sunrise and sunset at the each side of the island. It is really charming. Overnight on the island is really exciting. Unlike in Randayan that provides cottage, on the island, visitors can stay at home where its inhabitants had been prepared specially for the visitors (homestay) at some spots around the islands.

It is such a beautiful place to spend your summer time. Here is a list to do at Lemukutan Island :
